Random thought: OK, so there's lots of progress on cellulosic ethanol. At what point does the marginal cost of cellulose tip over into unsustainability? When you don't plow the stalks back into the ground, you rip the bejeezus out of the nutrients in your topsoil. You can't produce this stuff with just water and carbon dioxide. You've still got a lot of fertilizer to use.
