The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is contributing $27M to work on strains of wheat that can resist the Ug99 rust.
This same report indicates that the US is not likely to renew funding for a similar project. This seems kinda dumb. I sure hope that this isn't motivated by the fact that Ug99 is hitting Iran hard.
