Irony Alert!

Lets see if I've got this straight: Michigan and Florida defied the DNC (and RNC) to move their primaries up so that they'd have more national influence. For this, the DNC stripped both states of all their delegates. Now we're talking about do-over primaries or caucuses which will be held at the very end of the closest nomination fight in decades, giving Michigan and Florida... huge national influence!

But wait! There's more! One of the more popular ideas for paying for these primaries is to get the candidates to pay for them themselves! So, in a year where both Clinton and Obama have out-raised the Republican nominee by 2-to-1, they're now going to have to spend a non-trivial amount of their funds paying so that people can vote for them in a last-minute primary so that they have some smidgen of legitimacy coming out of the nomination.

Everybody has problems with unintended consequences. But it seems that the Democrats always have problems with unintended consequences. This is why I'm always willing to vote for the person who promises to get the least done.
