MSNBC reports that EMC2 has "first plasma" out of the WB-7 polywell device. (Scroll down a bit.) The goal of WB-7 was to replicate the WB-6 experimental results, which got a pretty high value for neutrons produced using D-T fuel. Rumor is that they'll be running full-power tests on WB-7 by March or April. If the results a reproduced, it's expected that EMC2 will seek funding for a full-scale, net power polywell.
