Mitchondrial Uncoupling
In interesting approach in the biochemistry of obesity. Mild cold activates a complex of genes that causes mitochondria to use a smaller percentage of the heat energy they produce to generate ATP, thereby requiring more energy to support ordinary cellular processes. If you could safely activate this complex of genes pharmaceutically, you'd have a hell of an obesity drug.
